Proven Leadership and Experience
I am a retired United States Army Military Intelligence Officer with 23 years of honorable service. My major awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (2d Award), Meritorious Service Medal (3rd Award), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Ribbon, Korean Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Air Assault Badge, Senior Parachutists' Badge, Canadian Parachutists' Badge, Iraqi Campaign Medal and Combat Action Badge. I served two combat tours in Iraq with the 1st Brigade Combat Team (BASTOGNE), 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).
I'm currently employed by Janus Research Group as an Analyst at the Army's Cyber Center of Excellence in Fort Gordon, Georgia.
I was the Grassroots Coordinator (2015-2016) for State Representative Jodi Lott (R-Evans). I've held a number of positions within the Columbia County Republican Party (CCRP) that included Chair, Plans and Policy and CSRA Minority Engagement. I am a member of many civic and service organizations, including Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., Augusta South Rotary Club and the Association of the United States Army (AUSA).
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee and a Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Public Management from Touro University in Cypress, California.
I have 2 daughters, one who is a Teacher's Assistant (Paraprofessional) at an alternative school in NC, the other who is currently serving in the United States Army with the 82nd Airborne Division, and a son who currently attends Augusta Technical and was a recent graduate of Greenbrier High School. I also have a granddaughter who is my pride and joy.

Evans, GA - Today, August 14th, 2017, Columbia County resident, proud parent of a Columbia County graduate, and retired Army officer George Bratcher announced his candidacy for Columbia County Board of Education, District 3.
Bratcher has lived in Columbia County since December 2009 and retired from the Army in 2013. After 23 years of honorable service, he decided to make Columbia County, Georgia his home. Since retiring, Bratcher has been a vocal advocate for improving public schools in the area and will ensure students, parents, teachers and administrators have the necessary resources to succeed.
